Laura Huntington serves as President of Institutional Property Consultants (IPC), a real estate investment consulting and research firm initially founded in 1983. IPC provides real estate investment advisory services to the institutional investment and private wealth management community along with performance measurement, valuations and research and analysis of private equity real estate securities and investment managers. IPC’s clients have invested equity capital across the spectrum of property types, including office, retail, multifamily, industrial, hotels, self-storage and senior and student housing. Ms. Huntington has extensive portfolio level experience in the implementation of investment policies, strategies and guidelines and has conducted numerous investment manager searches over the past 20-plus years.

Prior to IPC, Ms. Huntington served exclusively as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Huntington Group, a research and consulting organization formed to provide timely information, valuation and analyses on unregistered real estate securities. The Huntington Group working together with Cantor Fitzgerald, as the system manager for the Institutional Real Estate Clearinghouse, was instrumental in the development of a secondary marketplace for privately-held real estate securities that continues robustly today.

Prior to the formation of The Huntington Group, Ms. Huntington was a consultant with Frank Russell Company. She was actively involved in real estate investment manager research, where her responsibilities included manager and vehicle-specific analyses and recommendations; the formulation of client portfolio strategic plans; and, the representation of clients in negotiating contracts and fee schedules with investment advisors.

Prior to Frank Russell Company, Ms. Huntington was involved in academic research at The University of Texas at Austin, including real estate related research pertaining to the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), the economic impact of the Endangered Species Act and the development of the public real estate securities market.
Ms. Huntington presently continues her involvement in academia as an adjunct real estate professor at Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. Ms. Huntington is also an instructor for the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) Nuts and Bolts educational seminars and has been an invited guest speaker at Driehaus College of Business at DePaul University in Chicago.

Ms. Huntington has authored several papers and articles on the real estate market in general and the secondary market for commingled real estate fund securities and has been an invited speaker and moderator at numerous industry conferences and client events, both domestically and internationally. Ms. Huntington served as Program Chair for The Counselors of Real Estate (CRE) Mid-Year Meetings in Seattle. By request, Ms. Huntington has consulted with the Association of Real Estate Securitization of Japan and The Land Forum of Japan regarding the development of real estate performance benchmarks and indices.

Ms. Huntington earned both a BA and an MBA in finance, real estate and urban land economics with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Huntington is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Hoyt Fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute. She also is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Beta Gamma Sigma, the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Seattle, NCREIF and Phi Eta Sigma. Ms. Huntington has served as a board member of various privately-held companies on behalf of client capital. Ms. Huntington also served on Pension Real Estate Association’s (PREA) Performance Measurement Committee, NCREIF’s Data Validation Committee, NCREIF’s Fund Oversight Committee and the Real Estate Information Standards (REIS) Verifiability Task Force. Ms. Huntington presently serves on various institutional advisory boards representing client capital in numerous closed-end and open-end real estate investment funds.
