Bio

Sustainable urban development consultant, Founder of DR-i-VE.com, Seattle Planning Commissioner.

A fourth-generation architect from Colombia living in Seattle since 1999, Luis earned a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Washington with a strong focus on Virtual Environments. From 2001-2006, he worked for local architecture firms, pushing the limits of architectural software and design.

In 2007 Luis F. co-founded the International Sustainability Institute and helped re-brand International Sustainable Solutions, i-sustain.org and i-sustain.com respectively. With i-SUSTAIN Luis researched and documented global best practices in urban sustainability and was lead consultant for local projects.

Through his work, Luis identified a disconnect among the entities deciding on the built environment: real estate professionals, planners and community leaders. He envisioned a tool to keep everyone on the same page and aware of the big picture, a virtual environment with a lens for sustainability to accelerate better decisions and communicate them transparently.

In 2012 he launched DR-i-VE as an independent company. DR-i-VE breaks artificial knowledge boundaries; those between city departments; among the public, non-profit and private sectors; and across cities in the same region. DR-i-VE is also capable of presenting your project or data within this broader context, with unbeatable clarity for decision-makers.
