James Young joined the Runstad Center as Research Director in late January after spending 10 years as Senior Lecturer (US equivalent of Associate Professor) of Property at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. James has over 25 years of experience in analyzing property markets worldwide both as a consultant and as an academic with a particular emphasis on market analysis and housing. He has also established real estate databases and provided policy analysis to government agencies and professional groups in several countries. His consulting activity has spanned several specialist areas such as affordable housing (including LIHTC), corporate real estate, and real estate development appraisal. In addition, he has published in several leading academic journals including Real Estate Economics, Urban Studies, Housing Studies, Journal of Housing Economics, and the Journal of Real Estate Research.
James enjoys travel because it provides the opportunity to learn more about how different cultural and financial concepts shape housing markets and real estate investment potential.
