The Runstad Center houses the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) and the Graduate Certificate in Real Estate (GCRE) for students pursuing other Master’s degrees at the University of Washington.  Non matriculated students may obtain a Certificate in Commercial Real Estate offered in an evening format and administered through UW Professional and Continuing Education.

Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE)

The MSRE is a rigorous and comprehensive graduate real estate education program that prepares students for full-time leadership roles within the real estate industry. The program is located within the College of Built Environments, although students take a number of courses from other academic units providing a truly interdisciplinary student experience.

Students may obtain a general MSRE degree or they may focus their studies in one of three specialty Options: Corporate Real Estate, Real Estate Development, or Real Estate Finance and Investment.  Students may pursue the degree on either a full-time (5 quarters) or part-time (9 quarters) basis.

The program is professionally oriented and enjoys a very close relationship with the real estate industry.  Students are encouraged to participate in industry organizations and must complete an internship during the course of their studies if they are not already working in the industry.

Class sizes are small, allowing for hands-on team projects, interactive seminar discussions, extensive interaction with faculty, and plenty of opportunities to participate in intercollegiate competitions.  Admission is offered to a competitive pool of high-quality and ambitious applicants from across the country and around the world.

Graduate Certificate in Real Estate (GCRE)

The Graduate Certificate in Real Estate (GCRE) offers non-real estate UW graduate students an opportunity to learn the fundamental concepts and tools critical in the working of real estate markets while helping them understand how their own fields of study can be useful in real estate.

Diverse and Career-Oriented Community

MSRE and SRE students come from diverse academic and geographic backgrounds but they form close bonds as they work together in interdisciplinary teams and share their common real estate career goals.  This diversity of interests and experiences leads to exciting discussions in the classroom and beyond, including potential business partnerships and travel opportunities after graduation.

Think Runstad

The MSRE program focuses on increasing students’ knowledge of the fundamentals of real estate finance, investment, and development, as well as developing the broad business management and leadership skills required to improve the sustainable performance and quality of urban built environments.
