Rosey Atkinson
Rosey Atkinson is pursuing concurrent Master’s degrees in Real Estate and Urban Planning. She is interested in the relationship and interaction between real estate and the built environment. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Rosey earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and minor in Development Studies from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Upon graduation, she accepted a teaching fellowship with Mississippi Teacher Corps. There, in the heart of the Delta, Rosey taught junior high mathematics in a at risk, critical needs school district for two years, while earning a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi. She then moved on to teach mathematics at a boarding high school in New England.
While teaching, her passion for cities and economic development only strengthen, leading her to pursue a career in the built environment. With seven years of teaching experience under her belt, Rosey is looking to leverage her skills and knowledge to catapult her into a dynamic and stimulating new career in Real Estate. Rosey was selected to be a Runstad Center Affiliate Fellow. The topic she is exploring with the other fellows is Designing Density for the Next 100 Years in Seattle.
Rosey is the president of the Planning Student Association and is an active member in Washington State chapter of APA Youth in Planning Taskforce. She is also a member of NAIOP, CoreNet and CREW. Additionally, in her spare time, Rosey enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with her greyhound, Rusty.
