Skip Swenson
Skip Swenson works throughout the central Cascades and Olympic Peninsula regions of Washington State to develop the policies, tools, and programs necessary to achieve expansive conservation and sustainability goals. He works with stakeholders and elected officials in a variety of jurisdictions across the gradient of landscapes—from wildlands to urban parks—and specializes in conservation markets and incentives creation at the local and regional scales. In addition to his portfolio for Forterra, Skip serves on several advisory boards and committees, currently including the Washington Association of Land Trusts Board of Directors, Puget Sound Regional Council Regional Open Space Advisory Board, City Forest Credits Advisory Board, and the Emerald Alliance for Nature, People, and Community Advisory Group.
Skip holds a M.P.A. and a M.S. in Forest Resources from the University of Washington, where his studies focused on environmental policy, land planning, and natural resources management. He also holds a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Prior to joining Forterra, Skip served as Director of Analytics and Western Region Testing Services Manager for Information Resources, Inc., a multinational research and consulting company.
When he’s not tinkering on innumerable projects, Skip can often be found backcountry skiing and mountain biking throughout the Cascades
