Overview

The Masters of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) Program is a comprehensive graduate program that prepares students for future leadership roles within the real estate industry. The program combines academic rigor with commercial relevance and is taught by leading real estate faculty and a wide pool of affiliate faculty who are industry leaders. The program is located within the College of Built Environments, providing students with a truly interdisciplinary experience.

The innovative 18-month program structure allows students to obtain a general MSRE degree or to focus their studies in one of three areas: corporate real estate, development, or finance and investment. Small class sizes allow for heightened interaction with faculty and a number of opportunities to participate in intercollegiate competitions.

Graduates from the MSRE program will become alumni to one of the world’s leading universities. Established in 1861, the University of Washington is a leading research institution with 7 Nobel Laureates, 2 Pulitzer Prize winners, and 1 winner of the Fields Medal. Recent rankings have placed UW 11th (U.S. News & World Report’s Global University Rankings), 13th (Academic Ranking of World Universities-Shanghai Jiao Tong University), 9th (Center for World University Rankings) and 25th (Times Higher Education World University Ranking) in the world, while it consistently ranks among the top five public universities in the U.S.

Seattle provides the perfect environment to study the key issues facing real estate today. The Puget Sound region has been one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the U.S over the last thirty years and is home to major corporations including Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks and Nordstrom. The international reach of Seattle is also apparent in our teaching. While Seattle is a fabulous interactive classroom, the program continually provides national and international context and relevance. This global outlook is vital in an industry that is increasingly operating on a cross-border basis. It is more important than ever that graduates are aware of how markets differ globally, and how investors behave differently. Our international outlook is also an important element in supporting our commitment to diversity.
